History

In February 2023, Taking the Light brought recording equipment to Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso, to partner with missionary Jason Rishel. Through this partnership, several national pastors who speak different tribal languages immediately began recording Gospel preaching and Bible teaching in audio and video formats, fostering a sense of community and collaboration to ultimately bring the Gospel to nearby villages.

This equipment and the training provided to operate it also allowed the missionary to put Gospel content on the radio in the city where the national pastors are working. These radio programs have already created a stream of interested people responding and wanting to know more about Jesus.

In 2023, Taking the Light worked with a national Burkinabae, Pastor Drago, to survey villages surrounding the city of Bobo-Dioulasso in Burkina Faso. With the goal of evangelizing these small villages, Pastor Drabo scouted out the best locations for future church plants in these small, remote, and rural areas.

In 2024, Taking the Light branched out to duplicate this method in southern Peru. In January, the team went to the Andes Mountains and delivered three low-frequency radio transmitters. The Lord allowed us to partner with missionary David Gardner and two national pastors to send Gospel programs and Bible preaching to small pueblos in remote areas of the Andes Mountains.

With support from those back in the United States, Taking the Light also partnered with Luis Alberto to oversee the creation of new content on a weekly basis. He works diligently recording national pastors in the city of Arequipa, distributing this content by the means of radio, internet, and also through these low-frequency radio transmitters.

God has used the work of Taking the Light and its partners to see people reached with the Gospel. Our history is the fruition of a calling that we believe the Lord has given His followers to "Go and preach the Gospel to every creature."
